The Many Ways to Use Your Inkle Loom

When: Date to be determined but it will be in mid April, 2023.

About: Many of you know inkle means “narrow band” but that doesn’t mean the options for using an inkle loom have to be limited. This workshop will showcase the broad variety of weaving types that can be done on a very portable inkle loom, including

  • Plain Inkle Weaving – including how to make heddles and warp the loom

  • Advanced Inkle Weaving – learning the basics of pick-up (and drop-down)

  • Card/Tablet Weaving – a couple of options for warping the loom, and an overview on types of card weaving, whether it’s threaded in patterns or double face styles

  • Brocaded Tablet Weaving – a few techniques for how to use a supplementary weft to create designs on top of the weaving

  • Rigid-Heddle Weaving - a bonus section on how to use rigid heddles on inkle looms for demonstrations or working with trickier yarns

Teacher: Melissa Von Aschen-Cook.
